Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Appears to be a draft of an agreement between Henry Knox, William Bingham, and Joseph Anthony and his firm. The agreement possibly involves lands in Maine and the sale prices of the lands. Date was added later in pen but appears to be taken from the content of letter written at the end of the last page.
