A broadside entitled "Who Shall Be Vice-President? Shall He Be A Loyal or Disloyal Man?," published in 1864. This broadside discusses the loyalty, leadership, and courage of Vice Presidential candidate Andrew Johnson. It compares the voting record of Vice Presidential candidate, George H. Pendleton, to Johnson's voting record. The broadside reminds the reader that the seat of vice president is as important as the President. The broadside uses the example of the 1840 election of General Harrison who died two months after his inauguration. Vice President John Tyler became president, and then changed the policies that Harrison had promised in his campaign. The broadside also mentions the election of 1848. General Taylor was elected President only to be replaced by his Vice President Millard Fillmore within the year.
