The Governor of New York notes that he ordered munitions stored near Oswego and orders Hopper to send muskets, cartridges, and powder from those stores to use to defend Oswego, New York, if attacked. Oswego was attacked and captured by the British on 6 May 1814. Tompkins later became vice president.
