Four men gathered in front of a tent around a fitfth who is seated, holding a book and smoking a pipe. A black servant is pouring the leftmost officer a drink. The image has been torn and both parts attached to a white backing. Inscription on verso: "Alex. Moore. colored servant. Holmes, Sutter. Dickenson. Chandler. Russel."
