The Earl of Shaftesbury Anthony Cooper writes to his godson, Ashley O'Rorke, to assure him that despite not talking for a while, he is thinking of him. He talks about the beach and ocean. Cooper asks him to pray for the end of the Turkey War, and remarks that England has not been spared because its people are good, but rather because God is merciful.
