At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. Summary of Content: Statement, mostly for candles, but also for paper products. Candles are for a lodge, most likely Touro Synagogue, the oldest synagogue in the United States, though it is not named. Rivera belonged to Touro Synagogue. Thomas Vernon, another Rhode Island merchant, is also involved in the account.

Background Information: Jacob Rodriguez Rivera was a wealthy Jewish merchant and candlemaker.
