Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Reports that he has received a request from Mr. Peirce to give him his advice "respecting the Sale of the Patent Lands." States he thinks that land will sell "in the time limited by [Knox's] wishes." Provides his opinion on whom should be appointed to the 2nd regiment.
