Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

References Randall's letter of 30 June which contained a certificate of the cashier of New York for $1,250. Says the subscriptions shall be made as Randall desires. Is disappointed there are no more transfers at the Bank of New York and asks him to remit the $1,647 as soon as possible.
