General Robertson writes to Beauregard, who recently transferred from command of the Department of South Carolina, Georgia and Florida to the Department of North Carolina and Southern Virginia. Robertson writes, "I am anxious to be again in active service- and anxious to serve with you." Expects that cavalry under Beauregard's command will soon be fully employed, since at least two regiments, commanded by Griffin and Claiborne (possibly Colonels Joel R. Griffin and William C. Claiborne), were formerly part of his brigade. Requests to be appointed as Beauregard's Chief of Cavalry. Expresses certainty that General Braxton Bragg, overseeing Confederate affairs in Richmond, Virginia, will consent to the appointment he seeks.
