At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Printed by American Lithographic Co. N.Y. Shows Uncle Sam arm in arm with the representative of Britain, Lady Liberty, closely followed by Britain's lion and the eagle of the US. The poster advertises December 7, 1918 as a special days of celebration of American and British unity in the war effort.

Citation Guidelines for Online Resources

The copyright law of the United States (title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.
