At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

This letter is from another family member who is named Margaret. She is out in California writing to Aunt Frances, about the weather and how there is less fog in the winter. She also mentions a visit by Maybell and Dorthy, and invites Frances to visit as well. The envelope is blank. This letter from Aunt Frances is undated but it was enclosed with GLC09579.01.06.01, and GLC09579.01.06.02
