Hale requests, "...please inform me what will be your best terms for a set of types for my paper, the principal kinds to consist of, about three hundred and fifty weight of Bourgeois and nine hundred of Minion." Includes a pencil note at the bottom of the page, possibly referring to type ordered in 1816.
Ronaldson and Archibald Binny established an early permanent type foundry in Philadelphia. Some sources credit their establishment as being the first permanent type foundry. Hale was the proprietor and editor of the Boston Daily Advertiser, and was Edward Everett's brother-in-law.
