Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Lists men formerly belonging to the company of artillery commanded by the late Captain Hugg. Created at an artillery park, covering the period of the date of their enlistment to 1 September 1777, for the war. Signed by Captain Lieutenant Reed. Some of the men listed dispute their enlistment.
