Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Authorization for the cancellation of a mortgage of land from the estate of the late Thomas Flucker. Witnessed by Isaac and Samuel Winslow. Noted as "Signed, Sealed and delivered in the presence of" Henry Jackson who has also signed. Authorized by Samuel Cooper, who has signed twice as justice of the peace, 17 October 1793. Also noted and signed as received and entered into the records by William Webber at Hancock Island on 6 October 1794 and Thomas Price at Lincoln Island on 22 October 1794.
