Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Statement relating to a meeting held between Henry Knox, William Duer, William Constable, and Royal Flint, in July 1791. Declares that Knox testified to Samuel Ogden's relinquishment of his claims on certain townships in Maine. Outlines a discussion between the attendees about compensating Ogden for the lands.
