Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Writes that since his last letter to Anthony, he has heard from Mr. [William] Bingham regarding the arrangement of Knox's funds. Assures him that Bingham has a plan which would release him from any financial liability when payment is due on Knox's bonds (see GLC02437.06681 for a related document).
