Writes about minor promotions within the regiment. Also says he has not received letters from home in a few days.

Annapolis Dec 28 Saturday evening again & I am happy to say my work is so far completed that 1 shant have to be at it all tomorrow. Joe is going almost to the P.O. to water the Governor & as I have not written to day & as a letter deposited to night will towards the north star all tomorrow & reach you Monday - I write to day that I am well as ever. Nothing new. we (the 8th) are in Genl Parke's brigade the 11th also. The old man's regiment as it is called here. Saw the major drilling them this afternoon. Have not seen Lt. Col. Mathewson but once when I rode over there the day after they arrived. Have received no letter from home since Thursday noon, dont know what to think your letters generally come so regularly, hope you are all well, may get a letter to night I rarely receive them except at noon. I fear I shall be obliged to wait until Monday noon & I wish much to know definitely about Sheldon. Cant get the man here I wrote about, he is going home with the Captain who resigned. on track of one in the 11th Regt now. Joe is waiting & I must close. Perhaps you are so lousy without Julia that you cant write. Love Chas Marvin wait is to be made 2d Lieut & join the signal corps a fine position it is not public yet but will be tomorrow, I suppose.
