At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Discusses the case of "The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company v. the United States, Court of Claims No. 38-52." Burger presents the seven items which he "would like to show by testimony,: and asks Hilldring to indicate the date he will not be in New York so they can fix a "date for the New York hearing" in which he will testify. Letter is from Burger, the Assistant Attorney General Civil Division, but signed by S. R. Gamer, Chief, Court of Claims Section.
