Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Partially printed document signed by Helm as Kentucky Governor and countersigned by Secretary John Finnell. Grants Duley a tract of 255 acres in Livingston, Kentucky "in consideration of a warrant from the Livingston County Court." Outlines the location of the tract. An autograph note signed by E.A. Macurdy "R.S. Off" on the verso states that Duley has title to the tract.
