Title: Group of 7 sailors from the U.S.S. "Viking" [tintype]
The sailors pose with an American flag and another flag. Six of the men wear dark uniforms with white trim and large stars on the collars. The seventh man, standing between the two flags, wears a light shirt with dark pants. His shirt has white trim. His belt buckle reads "V."

The image shows a large house with a fence leading off from either side. Most of the men seem to be on the left, while the women are in a group on the right. Two men stand in the foreground, one on each side, facing each other. The man on the right carries a book. There are two more people on the porch of the house and two leaning out a second story window. Inscription on verso is illegible. Rips in the image have been repaired with tape. Numeric notation on verso: "no 9."

A line of trains and railroad tracks cuts across the center of the image. The town lies behind the railroad and it is possible to make out the sign of the "National Hotel" on the left side of the image. Inscription on recto: "Dalton Ga - looking towards Mill Creek gap."
