Asks for a letter from Knox introducing him to a Congressman from Massachusetts and to the President of Continental Congress (Thomas Mifflin).

Believes the people of Thomaston (Maine) will accept Captain Vose, and hopes that Fales and Vose will work well together. Has told Vose of his high esteem for Fales. Written by Colonel Lee as an officer under General John Burgoyne in Portugal to the William Petty, Earl of Shelburne (Lee writes "Shelbourne" on address), as aide-de-camp to King George III. Says he is honored Shelburne could possibly take in an interest in his affairs. Reports that he led a party that forded the Tagus River and surprised a body of troops. Their cannons were spiked and ammunition burned. Asks Shelburne to support Count La Lippe's recommendation of Lee to the Ministry. Praises Count La Lippe's leadership in the field.

Signed with notation by Hancock beginning "A correct extract of my official report." Reports on subordinate officers meriting praise for their action at the Battle of Garnett Hill, including General W.T.H. Brooks. At this brief engagement, Hancock met and repulsed an attack by Robert Toombs and the Georgia troops, and held this position until near the close of the day. The official copy of the report was sent to Leonard D. H. Currie.
