Discusses the school in Hopewell, and whether or not it will be able to continue: "Mr. Shaw's pecuniary circumstances are such that it is doubtful." Mentions the meeting ofa philosophical society, and the formation of the Young Ladies Liceum [sic] of Hopewell Academy. Also describes a letter from another soldier that states, "[I]f the girls here will only give us some assurance that they will not marry until we get back then we will rest satisfied."
