Replies to Johnson's letter, which informed the him of the Democrat's victories in Massachusetts. Congratulates Johnson, and praises Massachusetts. Of Federalism and Whiggism in that state, "We can now truly say that the old coon is really dead, & all humbugery with it."
E.S. Johnson was a clerk in the Boston offices of the Bay State Democrat. He did not know Jackson, but sent him a letter in the hopes of getting a signature in return. He received this entire letter in reply.
