At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Published by order of the Confederate Congress by the Enquirer Book and Job Press. Consists of documents, letters, battle reports, and statistics from Confederate officers (as well as some captured Union documents and letters) during the battles of 1862, including Shiloh and the defeats at Forts Henry and Donelson.
