General
You are aware of the circumstances under which I am here although unattached officially to this command - or to any command indeed - and I cannot hesitate to ask that transportation may be assigned or set aside to enable [inserted: me] to get to Virginia with such luggage as I have. I propose to go in company with my connexion Lt. Jno. M. Payne Ordnance officer of the Post and [2] team assigned me would serve for transportation for him also
Respectfully
Your Obedt Srt
