Indicates that Lieutenant General Richard Taylor will report to General Hardee in Savannah, Georgia until the "present emergency shall have passed." Taylor is ordered to inspect the condition of Major General Wheeler's cavalry.

Special Order:
I. Lt. Genl. R. Taylor is relieved temporarily from Duty in the Mil Dist. of the West and will report forthwith at Savannah or wherever he may be to Lt. Genl. W.I. Hardee, commanding Dept. of S.C., Ga. & Florida. As soon as present emergency shall have passed Lt. Genl. R. Taylor will resume his Command of the Department of Alabama, Miss. & E. La.
II. Lt. Genl. R. Taylor will inquire and report as soon as practicable into the present condition and discipline of Maj. Genl. Wheeler's Cavalry, making such suggestions as may in his opinion tend to increase the efficiency of said Cavalry.
