Writes "There is some talk of an exchange now in camp. I hope it is indeed so as prison life is anything but comfortable."

My dear Mother,
I received your letter of the 20th on Saturday & one from Agnes on Friday. Philips has not received his things yet but I expect will get them this week if the boat comes in. The weather is intensely cold, but I am ? comfortable. I am in Co. B. 4th Division now having changed out division. The boots have not come yet but I am in hopes I may get them this week. There is some talk of an exchange now in camp. I hope it is indeed so as prison life is anything but comfortable. Billy Webster is quite well. Have you received the permit yet I sent in on Monday a week ago. I have not heard from Uncle John for some time. Best love to Father, Uncle George, & all the rest & believe me as ever, Your Affectionate son.
