Clerical letter to General Scammon stating that Colonel Comley is at Charleston and that he will send a cook named Shurtliff to Fayetteville, West Virginia. Reports on the whereabouts of troops and comments that General George Crook will send troops to Gauley soon.
Library of Congress lists George Crook's dates as 1829-1890, but other list his birth year as 1828.
