Brigadier General White writes to Brigadier General Scammon commanding the District of Kanawha to report that the 91st regiment has started for Gallipolis, West Virginia. Thanks him for allowing the regiment to stay for a few days. States that defending themselves against the Confederates is taking the attention of his entire command and that his communication and transit of supplies is jeopardized. Says he sent five companies of the 91st. Ends by remarking, "I am pleased with the 91st and envy you the possession of such a Regiment." Written from Head Quarters of the Eastern District, Kentucky.
