Written from Camp Verplank's Point, present-day Verplanck, New York. Encourages Knox to come down to his location soon to discuss and prepare for a meeting with the British Commissioners (regarding the prisoner cartel). Also mentions a discussion with the Quartermaster General [Colonel Timothy Pickering] about preparation of a barge. Writes that the Quartermaster General would like Knox to make preparations for it.

Camp Verplanks point Sept 13th. 1782
Dear Sir
I have had a conversation with the Commander in Chief on the subject of our proposed Mission to meet the British Commissioners - with the Quarter Master General, one of the Contactors &c. I think it highly necessary that you should come down here to morrow or next Day, that some arrangements may be made, and some person sent down to Tapan before our meeting at that place. -
I cannot get the Barge done here, the Quarter Master General would gladly do it, he has materials, but no good workmen, he thinks you can [struck: best] do it best at West Point, I wish you therefore, to order some of your people to make such preparations as can be made without having the Barge sent up, which shall be done tomorrow or [inserted: on] Monday, but I am so much in want of it, that it must probably return again before the work is finished.
