Transmits a letter pertaining to a Major Baylies to be forwarded to John Jacob Faesch. Writes, "I have no private news- I need not add that I love you." Presents his regards to Lucy and the Knox children.

My dear Sir
A confidence in your friendship and having a wish to Serve me must apologise for my troubling you with the care of the inclosed letter it is on business of importance for Major - Baylies I therefore must request that you would cause it [inserted: to be forwarded] by some safe hand I have omitted Mr Faeschs Christian name and place of abode not recollecting them if necessary do supply them, the letter is to our old friend the iron maker -
You will get the news from the public papers it is therefore unnecessary for me to observe on our public affairs, I shall only say they look better
I have no private news - I need not add that I love you - I therefore shall not proceed only to tell you that I wish you to present my Sincere regards to Mrs. Knox and the little ones and that I wish you and them every [blessing]
