At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

References Randall's letter of 22 June. Has drawn upon him at sight for $2,577. Will send him "a volume of all the laws, as soon as it can be bound." Received the 15 dollars mentioned, but not the fur. Docket says the letter is to "Shaw and Randall."
