Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Writes that Mr. [William] Tudor has contacted him regarding lands in Maine to be purchased by Mr. [Richard] Soderstrom. Mr. Tudor has sent Mr. Soderstrom to Boston to "conclude the purchase with your Land Committee." Has asked Mr. Tudor to push for an increase in price for the land in question. Asks for Russell's continued support in the endeavor.
