Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Discusses land deals and mortgages. Mentions a piece of land being offered to Knox for $2,250. Notes he believes the price is high and recommends Knox offers $1000. Says he has been ill and confined to the house but it is election day and he intends to vote. Marked as private on the address leaf.
