Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Discusses Knox's recent letter. Thanks him for his concern about her children. Comments on possible appointments to the public service of two of their acquaintances. Expresses concern and sympathy with Knox over his son's recent difficulties. Mentions her happiness with her new husband and sends regards from him.

Sarah Lyons Flucker was the wife of Lucy Knox's brother, Captain Thomas Flucker. She got remarried, after Captain Flucker's death, to Bon-Albert Briois de Beaumez, circa 1796.
