Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Ulmer says that Captain Swan thinks the settlers should take the land before they are surveyed, but Ulmer does not think it is a good idea. Ulmer also advises Knox not to sell land around Belfast River until he knows how suitable they are. Mentions other land agreements Knox has made.
