Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Document is not signed but appears to be in Knox's handwriting. Docket states, "Committee for the Germans on West Side of the Medumack [Medomak] River [in Maine]. Appears to discuss land claims involving Henry Knox, Brigadier Samuel Waldo, Waldo heirs, and the Germans on the Waldo patent lands. Title and date was taken from docket.
