Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Signed by LeRoy Bayard and a Mr. Evers. Discusses an advancement Sarah Lyons Flucker Beaumez (Knox's sister-in-law) requested on behalf of her two son's, Francis and Thomas Flucker. Informs Knox that Messrs Palmer informed Bayard they did not feel authorized to honor any demands by Knox until they contact Calcutta first. Informs Knox they just learn that Mr. [Bon-Albert Briois de] Beaumez, Sarah Lyons Flucker Beaumez's husband, has died.
