Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Says the "post" left earlier than expected and he was not able to mail the letters last week. Notes he enclosed (not included) an account of the sale from the auction. Also mentions William Staples applied to him about paying Knox's current years' tax from the proceeds of the auction.
