Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Indicates that Blake has purchased Knox's house and the land surrounding it. Enumerates the details of the purchase, including the right of Knox to buy the house back within a particular period of time. Unsigned by Blake or Knox, but the words "I agree to the above" are written in a different hand at the bottom. Docket attributes these words to Blake as an agreement to the terms.
