Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Lists notes not applied for, not received, and notes relinquished and bonds given up for what appears to be residents on Knox's Maine lands. The total amount adds up to $61,401, of which $52221 was principal and $9,181 was interest. According to the docket the document appears to have been sent to Joseph Hale.
