Discusses General Israel Chapin's negotiations with the Six Nations (possibly referring to the Canandaigua Treaty of 1794). Notes that the Treaty should take place apart from British agents and spies.

Signer of the U.S. Constitution.

Dr Sir
The Letter appears to me to be very proper, but Genl. Chapins negotiations with the Six Nations ought to be apart from British Agents or Spies - I mean with the Chiefs - otherwise they can come to nothing.
