Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Includes account information from 24 December 1772-25 October 1773. Signed on verso by Crafts 16 March 1774, certifying that Flucker paid his account in full. Flucker paid Crafts for various painting jobs.

Colonel Thomas Crafts, Jr. was involved in the Boston Tea Party and was active in the American Revolution. Before joining the military, Crafts was educated in the painting trade.
