Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Instructs Captain Dustan to bring all the cannon and stores from Kings Ferry to West Point based on the orders of General Knox. States that Dustan is required to assist Knox. Instructs him to leave men in each work "with strict orders to suffer no injury to be done to them," after which Dustan should join the corps from which he has been detached. Watermarked.
