Marked "private." General Price writes to Reynolds, Governor of Missouri. Assures Reynolds that he has received no further news than that which he transmitted the previous day (docket indicates that the 'news' Price refers to possibly pertains to a vacant senatorship). Requests that Reynolds visit the army before he leaves for Shriveport (possibly Shreveport, Louisiana). Relates that Senator Johnson (possibly Waldo Porter Johnson, Confederate Senator from Missouri) informed him of the death of Senator Peyton (possibly Confederate Senator Robert Ludwell Yates Peyton, also from Missouri). Wishes to discuss the contents of Johnson's letter with Reynolds. Instructs Reynolds to send his reply through Major Cabell (E. C. Cabell according to docket).
