At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Writes that he has reviewed Robinson's manual of parliamentary procedure, titled Warrington's Manual, and praises it as useful, practical, and convenient.

Blaine was a representative and senator from Maine. The full title of the manual mentioned is, "Warrington’s manual : a manual for the information of officers and members of legislatures, conventions, societies, corporations, orders, etc., in the practical governing and membership of all such bodies, according to the parliamentary law and practice in the United States," by William S. Robinson, "Warrington."
