My dear Sir
I hasten to acknowlege the receipt of Mr. Brenners Bond. All has been entirely satisfactory .
I told our friend Baer when at Wheatland I had $500 to lend. Before I heard from him I had but $300. In his first letter he imformed me that Doeblers property was clear incumbrances. He afterward corrected this statement. I have no-money at present to lend to any person. Should I have I will consider of Mr. Ds. proposition. He is a good man & I should like to oblige him; but it has ever been a rule with me to have the first incumbrance. I presume he would ensure his house [& assign the policy]. What interest will he have on the $1800 after his mothers death? But I do not accept to have $2000 to loan before 1 February & perhaps not before the 1 April.
