Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Duane announces the birth of a son, and assures Robert, Jr. that he will procure Mr. Du Bois's debt to him. He also notes that he has no news of Col. Renselaer doing anything to harm him, and offers his assistance to Robert, Jr., who lives with the perpetual threat of violence from tenants and squatters.
