At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Jacob [Sinderar] states that he is returning his land to Robert, Jr., on account of the fact that Robert, Jr. drowned the land and rendered it useless. He also informs Robert, Jr. of all the other damage caused to his crops and goods on the farm, and expects payment for them as well. Docketed on address leaf.
