Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Crannell writes that Peter Van Den Bogert is now in jail because his creditors are excessively hard on him. He also notes that he is aware that Robert, Jr. owes him a payment in June, and hopes that this will help Van Den Bogert clear his account with his creditors. Docketed on address leaf.
